REALITY TRAILER
by Tiberiu Iacomi

Warning – this article is as sincere as an article can be – in
the sense that it has no logical structure, no main idea,
just some random, ordinary thoughts written from the
bunker I have hidden myself into in order to spend some time alone
with God after the 21st of December 2012 – as one good friend said
to me: I plan to live forever – so far, so good.
Some people go to counseling. Others go to the psychiatrist. Some of
them choose to go to AA meetings. But I don’t have personal problems
to get advised for, I don’t have any pathological signs and I certainly
am no anonymous alcoholic. I am just an anonymous skeptical,
making the world’s problems my own and considering that humanity
has become a virus that we seem not to catch up anymore.
I will try to be creative – not to reach for aliens when virtues abandon
me in this so familiar world. 2012 is approaching, isn’t it? I wonder
who bought the TV rights to transmit live the end of our world. I
wonder who will make the best online campaign to get the most fans
at the end of our world. I wonder what leaders will have to tell us
offline. I’m getting too bitter for your taste? But ain’t that sweet for a
change?
We are the heroes of our Second Life, we are the most sought for and
recommended professionals on LinkedIn, we have thousands of true
friends on Facebook and everybody is blindly following us on Twitter.
Shall we mention more – that all of you StumbleUpon all of you
and everybody digg-s for delicious people? We are more appealing
through our artsy pictures, more gracious through our quotes, more
generous with our clicks for saving forests and Somalian children,
more lenient and tolerant with our community’s mistakes, more combative
and talkative about the wars and religious or ethnic clashes.
Well, newsflash for you, happy, shiny people: the fairytale stops
when you log out. At least, that is what my bitter experience tells me,
making me the skeptic I am today. People found a refuge in social
networking and online communities because they had to improve
their self-esteem, to save face in front of themselves, to create other
personalities that would satisfy their inner unconscious moral drives.

Looking for partners from Slovakia, Czech Republic, Slovenia, Poland and Serbia

Looking for partners from Slovakia, Czech Republic, Slovenia, Poland and Serbia

Summary of the project

During 8 days of working together, young people from 6 Slavonic countries will have the opportunity, through structured activities, to experience the relationship between language and culture by creating their own scenario using, as a platform, the famous story of Le petit prince. As part of this they will do research on common words of which there are many in these Slavic languages. They will work on remixing the scenario making it a combination of English and Slavonic.

Also they will try to answer on the questions like: what does culture mean in an increasingly globalised, connected world and what is the relationship between language and culture? In this Exchange, participants will discover the connection between the Slavic languages and cultures. They will see the similarities and differences by discussing key quotations and sharing their insights on the questions they raise.

Participants of this Youth Exchange will be from 3 countries which use Western Slavonic languages (Slovakia, Czech Republic and Poland) and 3 countries which use South Slavonic (Serbia, Slovenia and Macedonia). People from these countries are speakers of closely related languages. There is a natural relation between them so that it is possible for the participants to think about and discuss language as a reflection culture, or vice-versa.

Participants will be expected to familiarize themselves with the book, and the Exchange will begin with a group summary of the story. This will motivate participants to come prepared since otherwise they will not be able to properly participate in the opening stage of the Exchange.

Partners and Participants:

We are looking for partners from the follow countries: Slovakia, Czech Republic, Poland, Serbia and Slovenia.

Four participants from each country plus one youth leader

Financial rules:

For APV – 100% reimbursement for group leaders, for Youth Exchange – 70% reimbursement of all travel costs

In case you are willing to support this Exchange, please fill in the part III and fax it to +389 2 3220 994

Libertas on Human Virtues

Libertas on Human Virtues

To be or not to be … ?
People sometimes laugh about the idea of how easy and wonderful life would be as a cat. You get food when you are hungry, come cuddling when you want some company, and have a full sandpit for yourself. You can lie almost wherever you want because with that big “puppy eyes” face the world is in your paws.

On the other hand, you can’t have a family whenever you want, or at all because that’s the owner’s decision. This means you´ll maybe never have kittens. The most exciting thing you will see is that big bird outside the window that you just hurt yourself when trying to catch it through the glass.

As a human being, we have all the possibilities in the world to do whatever we want to; we are at the top of the food chain of life and nothing is impossible before you have tried. It doesn’t matter if you are born in a poor family or in a wealthy one because it’s all about believing in yourself and having the guts to do the things that have been spinning over and over in your head. This means that we can create our life and the whole world as we want it; if we want to build a bridge between a land and an island instead of taking a boat, we can do that.

Fundraising for the Youth Center in Kavadarci

Fundraising for the Youth Center in Kavadarci

The Youth Center creACTive in  Kavadarci exists since September 2009. All the youth of Kavadarci has the possibility to participate to many activities for free: english, french and poruguese classes, theatre, guitar, juggling, arts, debates, movie and intercutural nights, educative workshops, sports… creACTive Kavadarci counts around 300 members, 150 of them are visting the creACTive very often and are actively participating to the activities. This number is getting bigger every day.

The Youth Center is a project financed by the own funds of the Youth Association creACTive. Unfortunately, those funds are reduced to a minimum. Our biggest problem now is to rent the place. We couldn’t find any support until now and if we don’t find any kind of support this month, we will have to close the youth center in Kavadarci. The month of April is devoted to an active fund raising. From the 5th of to the 30th of April, we will have all the activities  on the main square in Kavadarci. We hope that this big event will make the population of Kavadarci more aware of our problem, which is directly a problem for the youth of Kavadarci We hope that this will help us to find sponsorship for the youth center to stay open.

Besides organizing the activities outside to be more visible, we will at the same time sell objects created by the members of creACTive during the creative workshops.
