Summary of the project

This multilateral youth exchange is designed to make an impact on the local population’s awareness of environmental issues. Objectives focus on improving participants’ interdisciplinary knowledge; changing their attitudes about community involvement or civic action; and increasing their abilities in working in groups, solving problems, and applying their knowledge to real-world problems using ‘learning by doing’ methods.

The group of 30 young people from South East Europe and Western European countries will spend eight days together where, through group activities, they will have an opportunity to increase their interest, awareness and knowledge about protecting nature and raising their awareness about environment.

There will be plenty of workshops developed that will address nature and environment at the personal, local, and global levels. Workshops will provide a mix of simulations, role plays, reflection, case studies, discussions, and other experiential activities that help participants.

The Exchange will combat all kinds of indoor and outdoor activities, where participants will have numerous opportunities to express their opinions and influence the local community in raising awareness about the protection of the nature.

The main goal of this youth Exchange is strengthening the participation of youth in environmental protection , devising new forms of action, more effective education and media presentation s of environmental issues.

Objectives

The objectives of the Exchange are as follows:

· To encourage young people to create an inventory of their elders’ / conventional wisdom from their own community.

· To discuss questions of how to live in an ecologically sound fashion in a particular place, rather than questions of how to organise political action.

· To promote environmental education and to translate commitments towards the environment into concrete action of any kind.

Participants:

Four participants from each country plus one youth leader

Partners:

Programme Countries and South East European Countries.

Financial rules:

For Advanced Planing Visit – 100% reimbursement for group leaders, for Youth Exchange – 70% reimbursement of all travel costs

YOUTH EXCHANGE “Revitalizing our old traditional games”

MACEDONIA, winter , 2010

Summary of the Exchange:

This Exchange is planned to provide guidance on the opportunities that participants need to develop their knowledge and understanding of cultural diversity during its implementation.

During eight days programme young people from  different countries with different cultural backgrounds will be involved in planning and organising their own activities, experience decision making processes and responsibilities and test new culture and values. They will work together in collecting and testing different creative and peaceful games that their parents played in the past, instead the violence ones that are presented today. Games will help them for promotion of multi-cultural understanding which is close related to aspects of personal and social development where participant’s self-esteem is promoted and participants are encouraged to think about and respect the feelings of others. Structured activities such as: collecting peaceful and creative games, research, adjustment and preparation of an educational pack of the games, community field trips will offer to the participants to learn about themselves, learn about other culture and ultimately change their life and communities

• To raise awereness among young people about the bad influence of war games and weapon toys.
• To become aware about the importance of  introduction of  peaceful games and exercise.
• To prepare and publish an Educational pack of peaceful and creative games.

More then 25 youth workers and members of organizations and non formal groups took part in the workshop for preparing the application forms when applying to the Youth in Action Programme. The workshop took place on 12th of December and aimed at preparing the participants with the necessary information while preparing their application forms and apply for the youth in action programme.

From 20th to 22nd of November creACTive organized a Youth in Action workshop in Struga, Macedonia. Fifteen representatives of Macedonian organizations participated in the workshop, which covered the procedures and rules for applying youth exchanges, EVS and training and networking projects. The work of the Macedonian National Agency for European Educational Programs and Mobility was also introduced, by the Head of the Youth in Action Unit, Snezana Simonovska.

This workshop is implemented as part of the project Study Visit – “Youth work in Macedonia and possibilities for international cooperation”, funded by GTZ and the Secretariat for European Affairs of the Macedonian Government.
